Silicone IMO. Grout prob would be ok but it doesnt hurt to play it safe.

I would say silicon, for one it will be quicker for you, 'cos trying not to get grout up the brick slightly will be difficult and slow going imo.

What colour is the grout and can you use a silicone to match the colour?
I'am going to sit on the fence here and say its up to you.
If you mask the brickwork then a grout line will not mark it.
If you can get a clean silicone line of the same colour without brick dust and bits and keep it smooth - great.
We had to do a report for a conservatory company a while ago where there had been movement of the internal floor - by a very small margin. The grout had stuck to the brickwork and pulled the glaze off the edge of the tiles. Included was my observation of Open Cast mining less than a mile away and the possibility that this may have caused the movement!

as united said silicon to allow expansion. the joint between floor and wall should be left clean [no debri, glue ] better to be safe than sorry, you are the one to get your butt kicked if the floor crackes due to expansion.
