5 of us sat all day yesterday in a training centre being assessed as 2 weather we can work on m&s stores the instructor talked all day about addy & grouts .what trowel we should use for large format tiles .we stuck 1 tile down then he lifted it 2 c if we had 100 percent coverage of addy ..we had a small test . do you silicon intermediate movement joints. what is the british standard no .using a large format trowel what coverage would u get out off a 20kg bag of pourable addy. . we also had 2 set out a small room & tell him what size cuts would b against the doors

they did,nt tell us said they have to send results off to an independent marker

£200? That must be a new thing that they are doing, I am on a job at their distribution centre in Crewe In August, never had to do any tests. Maybe its for all the new guys.
I will phone my contact in Bradford and see if he knows anything about it for you.

good idea, m&s must have figured out it's cheaper to do these tests to ensure their floors stand up to abuse rather than keep repairing them. Bravo

apparently they have mainly used soft floorings .they are now going over 2 tiling but want 2 avoid problems by getting the right fitters .is has been costing them 80 million a year in repair bills and poor work man ship .well thats what we were told
