Possibly because Newcastle is the largest M&S outside of London.

Worked on at least 6 M&S stores, never had to do a test. It will probably be a role thats been introduced by the buildings officer or building management team.

    its a competance test

shows the lack of faith employers have in the cscs/nvq system

I filled one out for the prison service monday, I had loads of questions on how I deal with situations,

give one example ,how did I deal with the situation, what was the outcome

I felt like writing . asked to paint wall , painted wall. wall was painted

    does my crust in

last year I had to pass a maths test that went into stock control. what was that about, when I queried it they said they were checking how inteligent I was

I was going to ask who tested them for inteligence but thought better of it

I think this is the latest trendy way to employ people and we are going to have to get used to it, play their game and wait till their bored of it

then we will have to play a new game to get work

Marks & Spencer test is nothing to worry about. Here are some sample questions:

    1. A room 4m wide, 12m long, and 3.2m high has 10mm floor tiles laid direct on a 4mm bed of adhesive. Calculate the reduction in volume of the room after the floor has been laid (as a percentage of the original volume).

    2. You are requested to use an environmentally friendly adhesive when fixing the floor tiles. Present three alternative options, outlining their chemical constituents, providing a case for using each one and outline in your arguments the environmental impact of the mining of the chemical constituents.

    3. Marks and Spencers PLC is a responsible retailer and takes the best possible care of its customers. To reduce incidents of slippage on tiled surfaces, present a full health and safety risk assessment for reducing slipage. making appropriate reference to the friction coefficient for constituted marble faced tiles.

As Alexander the Meerkat says "Simples!"
