| on top of vinyl ties | | Hi all. This is my first question on the forum since I joined. I attended the NETT course that was exellently run by Darren and Tracy in July and since then have only done jobs for family and friends. Now I have my first paying job - 20msq floor tiles. I have to take up a sheet of lino that is covering old vinyl tiles but wont know the condition until i do. Just planning ahead, I know if the vinyl tiles are sound I can tile on top of them. But what I would like to know is -if the vinyl tiles are unsound should i pull them up (or scrape) to reveal the concrete floor, and use a self leveller to make good. Would appreciate any good advice from any of the good people on this forum. I have read some exellent threads on here, hope that I can get in to the mould. Cheers. | | |

| Re: on top of vinyl ties | | I agree with Gaz. You can try to remove them. If they are sound, wash them by scrabbing the hell out of them, you don't want any old stuff on them. I, for instance, the wall ones and corners to the walls pick up, which for some reason they usually do, take them up, and make good that area.
As above, flexi every thing. They will never move then. | | |

| Re: on top of vinyl ties | | Thanks guys for good advice. I did the job and found that the vinyl tiles were sound except for one corner . I removed them tiles and made good with self leveller. then I really used some elbow grease to clean the whole area and used flexi adhesive to lay the tiles.I took my time to make it look good and everyone is happy. Will certainly use the forums to chat abot future ventures. | | |
