I have searched the forums and can't find an answer. I laid a porcelain floor six months ago and it was fine. I got a call from the client a couple of days ago to say that a radiator has been moved and there are now two holes in the tile. Is there a product on the market that allows you to match the original colour (very dark grey/black) and fill the holes? No one I have asked seems to know.

Re: mikeatic
I returned all leftover tiles to shop. It seemed such a simple thing that I told the client it would be no problem. I will be more careful what I promise in future.

Re: mikeatic
you could use silicone but it's not going to look too good

Re: mikeatic
The holes are in quite an exposed position so need to blend in. I wondered if black paint in tile (ready mixed) cement might work.

I'm not sure. Has the tile shop not got any of the tiles left in stock?

Re: mikeatic
is it wall or floor, not that it makes a big difference, easiest way isn't always ( never ) is the right way, if they want a professional finish they will have to bite the bullet and fork out for 2 new tiles, if they were that much per tile then why ruin an expensive job by patching ????

Re: mikeatic
Nothing will match the tile colour..but the tile it self..It will be quicker to just replace..
I am also puzzled as to why you left the customer no spares..?

Re: mikeatic
Yeah, at over £30 a tile she wanted the cash back... 15mm pipe don't leave much of a hole , so the colour dif shouldn't be too noticeable.

Re: mikeatic
I wouldn't like it, not 2 x 15mm holes, no, sorry mate, you'll just have to put the options to them, 2 new tiles or a crap finish, sorry to be blunt.

Re: mikeatic
shes had the money back for the spares and shes had a rad moved
she will need to pay for two tiles to be supplied and fitted
what do people expect
I know nothing I havent learnt

Re: mikeatic
Replace the tiles is the only option, Don't spoil a job with bodged up holes imo

Re: mikeatic
Drill out 2 No. 18mm holes using a 365 hole cutter - from an area not seen - grind them down a few mm and plug the holes with these.

Re: mikeatic
Reading through the thread I was about to suggest plugging it but looks like Timeless beat me to it, Only one tile needed and less labour, also if the new tiles are a slightly different colour it won't show as much.
But for the sake of a few extra quid to replace it and leave a better finish wouldn't you just do it?
It's not your fault they moved the rad and maybe if you did a repair job they might not be happy with it and suddenly a small job turns into a longer one.
If they really are struggling for cash then they might just have to live with it or place a peice of furniture over it

Re: mikeatic
hi mike,
i'm afraid as alanp says, bite the bullet, buy the tile and replace..you could risk your reputation over £30 and its not worth it in this climate
just use it as experience, do it and forget about it
best of luck
