wax on porcelain tiles?
Sorry if this is the wrong place but I`m new and very confused.
Bought the grey granite look porcelain 60x60 tiles @ B&Q last week for the ridiculous price of £5.30 for 3 but ever since my head is spinning from all the conflicting views on quality and installation
B&Q have large notices saying the tiles are waxed, the instructions inside say the tiles "may" be waxed & someone on here says it comes off with the paper in between the tiles but there isn`t any.
We tried using a wallpaper steamer on one tile & that didn`t get anything off. The surface does not seem to be waxy at all so I don`t want to spend a fortune on nanoscrub if it is not necessary.
I`ve had beetroot, red wine & oil puddles on the tile which don`t seem to
be staining the tile & there are no water marks from yesterday`s steamer experiment.
How do I know whether there is wax on the tile?

Re: wax on porcelain tiles?
If you only have three tiles you could use Acetone (nail varnish remover) to remove any wax that may be on there.. Are they polished?

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry to be unclear. That was the price for a box of 3 .I bought 16sqm
They are polished .
I just tried nail varnish remover & nothing happened except that I ruined my nail varnish.
I`m sure it hasn`t got a wax coating but what does a wax coating look like.

Re: wax on porcelain tiles?
Do the tiles have the look shiny straight from the box or a slight dull finish..?
If they are high gloss, then they have no wax on them..

They are very shiny so I presume there is no wax on them.
That saves a load of work.
Thanks for your help.
