Re: cutting round architraves
Andy.. i would be lost without mine now..
How many times i used to cut with a handsaw and go to insert the tile and a hadn't cut enough from the moulding... you try taking 2mm off with a handsaw..
The fein trims no probs.. and the various add ons you can get are great.. from grout rakes to even stone polishing kits.

I used to cut them the same as you and I was good at it, because as a kid I used to get a thrashing if you could get a fag paper in the gap but I have not cut one since I got the Fein it is so much faster.

Re: cutting round architraves
As usual I buck the trend - I don't have a Fein
I have a Roberts Door Jamb Saw - basically a 115mm angle saw with special head to cut door jambs and also skirting if you wish.
The head and 115 blade cuts a jamb in about 1 sec and at the correct height - always and straight / not a wobble anywhere.
The blade is height adjustable from about 4 mm to approx 25mm and once you set the height you can do 6 jambs is about 30 secs and then 30 secs to sweep up the saw dust - jobs a good un -- They cost about £140 in 2003 so probably check the price. They also do a door trimmer - same principle but a bigger pcs of kits and about three times the price. Cuts doors in place without the need to take them off the hinges. - No lads, I do not own the latter.
