Default first large format polished porcelain job

    Hi all

looking for some advice and tips on laying large format polished porcelain.

I've got a kitchen job coming up soon with some polished porcelain tiles 600x600
I'm going to be laying insulation board, underfloor heating mat, SLC & then the large format porcelain tiles. I've laid 600x300's before but not something this big, so just wanting a bit of advice & maybe some pointers.

    Thanks

    Matt

    Hi matt....

Just like any other floor but it must be nice and flat... And it will be easier if you use a PTB adhesive..

Hi Matt as Dave says, Floor must be super flat. If you get that right, then just like any tile. Just heavy work, if you look in my albums, you will see an example of a 600x600 kitchen floor. Good luck and keep asking

yeah I was thinking the same thing too! Quoted the job for standard size tiles too but customer chose these

going to spend a bit of extra time getting the SLC over the UFH matt spot on.

What trowel size should I be going for with these?

I use a glass suction pad for laying these, much easier to lower them into place and saves on the back a bit too!

Just mix it to the instructions on the back of the bag... you simply pour and spread...and with it being a thick bed adhesive it doesn't slump like other adhesives if you mixed wet.

i got a back support from screwfix and its brilliant! (69054) Also got my suckers from there too. A double and a quadruple sucker, very good for the money and have used them for some really heavy shower glass.
