Uneven wall questions

Morning,

Been a while since I posted and had a couple of questions please. I have trawled through a fair few older forums before asking the following so apologies if I am repeating old news.

I have got a bathroom where the customer wants 600x300 tiles with a mosaic border half height. 3 of the 4 walls are good (plastered on plasterboard) They run pretty flat with a few variations of a mm or 2 over a meter. These have been fine so far and I have hidden any slight bumps and dives with the addy (using 10mm trowel)

The last wall is doing my head in massively. If you put a straight edge on it, it runs flat for about a meter then dives in by almost 25mm, then comes back out after a couple of foot. Then right in the middle it has a bowl shape (comes out) that runs for another 2 feet. You can rock the straight edge on it by 20mm either side.

Now if it just had the diving in part I would have thought about levelling it myself with something but considering it bows out after that I am at a loss. I have already tiled the other 3 walls in my naivety.

What do you guys suggest please and I have learned my lesson about checking every part of every wall at quote stage.

My second question is regarding putting 600 x 300 vitrfied 9mm thick fllor tiles on a newly plastered wall ,2 months )Havent done this but have been asked) The tiles with addy on weigh right on the boundry of maximum which from memory is about 20-25 per M/2 please correct me if I am wrong.

Id putting floor tiles on a plastered wall advisable and is there any pitfalls I should look out for please.

I think your Grout and adhesive weights are too much.. about half that is ample to allow.

All very well quoting weights and stuff but no-one answered his question.

You could try chasing the lump out of the wall mate leaving you wiv only the belly to deal with, sounds like you've got the packing out bit nailed down.

Sory is it a solid plasterd wall or more PB skimmed.

I dont think I could chase out beacuse that much difference would eat away the 5-10mm skim and be digging holes in the plasterboard.

I am guessing my best option is to take that wall back down and re plasterboard it and tiles straight on that. Or get a decent spread in to make the wall good.

Would you guys agree?

the easist way to straighten that up is to strip the plasterboard off. fix studs alongside the existing studs to level up and reboard

Replace with new plasterboard would be my option

are you putting them on brick bond, That doesnt help matters

No Sean LOL, just straight bond with half height border. Still, with tiles that size you notice every single thing in the wall. Its been a struggle, but looking ok now. Just this last wall to sort out. So pleased its not Brickbond though mate

Are you saying that its the studs that are more likely to be bowed and out of shape rather than the shape of the plasterboard and skim themselves??

Plasterboard it is then. If the batterns are warped, just replace with new ones.

Tip-when buying wood/studs always sight along them to check for straightness before you buy. All the best!!

IF the studs are bowed you can plane them off but if it dips and is bowed, as Mike said add new ones in beside them

I've put floor tiles on the wall before not had a problem with it although i did back skim each tile as well as the back of the tiles had very deep lines. As for the weight, thats your call really as your the one doing the job!

you can lay floor tiles on walls and floors but wall tiles can only be used on walls as for weight how strong are your walls and how much weight do you intend to put on them
