Tile Sealing
I have been lurking on this board for quite a while and found a great resource.
I'm a newbie to tiling but around xmas time laid porceline from Topps on our Kitchen floor. Used Bal Superflex grey grout and I'm pleased with the result.
I had never heard of sealing tiles until i picked it up from one or two threads on here and i'm starting to wonder if i have missed a step. Not looking for a shiny finish, we prefer matt.
These are the tiles i used, do you think these should be sealed? I have read an earlier post about testing an offcut which i will try.
Rajah Beige (Volcano)
thanks

Re: Tile Sealing
I have looked at the link you provided to the tiles and it says they are a matt finish, so i presume they are not polished porcelain? if they are not polished and are a textured tile then imo you dont have to seal the tiles. You can if you want to seal just the grout joints which will help in the cleaning process and to keep the grout looking good.
you can get a grout sealer from all tile shops. either as an aerosol that you spray on or one that you apply with a small brush.
hope this helps steve..

Re: Tile Sealing
I guess you could always check the tile wont stain by testing a scrap piece or a small area that's out of sight if you dont have any leftovers.
Add a bit of beetroot juice, leave overnight. See what comes off (or not) Coffee stains, Red wine all the usual suspects.
If they clean off then go ahead and organise that wild summer party with plenty of bottles of rioja red wine. If the stains wont shift its either a white wine party (my favourite is Blossom Hill Chardonnay) or time to do some sealing.
Peckers (above) has this answered correctly - Dont mind me I am just fishing for summer parties.
