hi
just the back and sides..
ed

check with the adhesive manufacturer as some say no and some say yes to priming the face side.
So if it's OK with the adhesive manufacturer i coat the underside before i screw it down and the sides but not the side that is being tiled on , sorry for being so thick but this subject is totally confusing me

its amazing how different adhesives claim different procedures for priming ply? doesnt make sense to me one bit. my own head and experience comes to the conclussion it should be primed but i dont set the guarantee criteria on mapei products?
be interesting to see what people think regarding this too..
ps what adhesive are you using? if its mapei, then they recommend not priming the surface if that helps any

I,me not doing the tiling knees have gone this is a love job for my daughter she's bought the tiles from Topps i expect it will be Bal

But if the ply gets dusty then you do prime.. minefield hey...![]()
That's what a sweeping brush is for no

Understand thanks for your advice
best to get an adhesive that recommends priming it, just in case it gets dusty and you nee to prime it then![]()

Or you could just use baker board which is the correct material to line the floor instead of the ply

I now price shouldn't come in to it peace of mind and all that , but how would backerboard compare to 18mm plywood bathroom is 10sqm
Definitely going with the cement Backer board question is which one ?

for me it is Hardie Backerboard all day long but that's just me.
I live in the North West of England near Blackpool can you suggest a stockist
Cheers
Cheers looks like Manchester

i think they will deliver
Good can i double check with you about the adhesive to use to stick the board down before screwing ,i take it not the stuff in a tub what would you recommend

Ive posted before about the unreliability of some far estearn ply and its unsuitability for overboarding, unless you can recognise what your buying you can come seriously unstuck
we should be pushing backer board on here as the standard and encouraging people to switch over
I know nothing I havent learnt

Does 18mm moisture resistant chipboard with 6mm Hardibacker sound ok with 45cm x 45cm pocelaine tiles or would it be better with 22mm chipboard, my local Topps can supply the backer board although they were trying to push me on to this matting on a roll , but liked the rigidity of the backer

Why have we now gone to Chipboard? i thought we were talking Ply ?
