Cornertape
Hello all
I'm sure this has been discussed to death on here but just had to write about it.
Used cornertape for the 1st time yesterday and WOW what a result.
Only been tiling for about a year and I've been using the old diluted fairy liquid and finger method up until now...with varying results. I had to use a combination of small and large width tape as the work tops I was tiling to Were poorly installed which meant varying size gap. But the finish I acheived using the tape was amazing (even though I do say so myself).
I'll definatley be using it on every job from now on as it was so simple to use (watch the demo online 1st as the instructions on the box aren't great)
I'd highly recommend it to anyone who finds it difficult working with silicone. You'll get a pro finish first time you use it.
Brendan

Re: Cornertape
Yes , once you've applied the tape properly, You're left with two strips of sliver tape running perfectly paralell to each other, with a gap running through the middle for the silicone. Simply apply the silcone, smooth over with the tool supplied then peel off the silver tape. And you're left with a perfectly straight and smooth silcone line.

Re: Cornertape
the cornertape product is as good as it shows on the videos we have sold hundreds and it comes in 4 different widths and 3 different lengths i was a specialist sealant applicator for 20yrs and it takes a lot to impress me, everbuild also do one but i am not impressed at all with that one,
never been on here before was just doing some research and stumbled across it seems very good.

Re: Cornertape
saw it at tile show last year.good but expensive for what it is.A better tool what i use and only cost £3 is a foam headed triangle shaped tool.you can wipe silicone on n off till you get desired bead thickness.best tool ive bought.

Re: Cornertape
yes we also sell the product that you mention they are ok when the sealant is brand new but when it starts to age and discolor you then see that is not a uniform joint

Re: Cornertape
I use it too..... amazing! My brother is a deck fitter for Sunseeker Powerboats and he is an ace at it...... cornertape is as good as his work!
I buy mine from here..... http://www.therange.co.uk/bin/venda?...archsubmit.y=0 ....... or eBay (whichever works out cheapest at the time)

Re: Cornertape
ive used it before but its not perfect corners have to be carefully joined to keep the bead neat.sometimes the tape isnt sticky enough.its not a quick solution. ive found the plastic tool formers to be neat and cheap and they give a good choice of shapes.

Re: Cornertape
I've known Andy (From Cornertape) for a number of years now, we often bump into each other at trade shows and exhibitions. Last show (Natural Stone Show) bumped into him in the hotel bar so we had a good old chat about the ups and downs of retail!
There are some products that can just sell themselves but Cornertape seems to be one of those better sold with a demo. Thats why Andy and his team put a lot of effort into trade shows and exhibitions. And why the point of sales racking have an inbuilt video.
Its a shame about Topps but other retailers do stock it. I'll look forward to more trade shows with them. (For those who dont know us - we supply a tile drilling kit) And I expect to see Cornertape for many years to come.
