white or ivory silicone?
we have just tiled our bathroom and have used ivory grout, should we use ivory silicone or white? our suite is white and we are using the silicone down the corner joint in the walk in shower and thats where i feel it would stand out the most if we used white. we have used bal micro ban grout but they only do cream or champagne in the coloured silicones, ant tips would be greatly appreciated, tanks.

Re: white or ivory silicone?
bal says it may be too much of a contrast to the ivory as it is a yellowy colour,is there another make in ivory thats just as good as bal?

Re: white or ivory silicone?
may have to risk a tenner and try the champagne in an insconspicuous area first(thats a big word to try and spell right).

Re: white or ivory silicone?
I would keep as close to the grout as possible on this one. If you use white it will make the grout look dirty methinks.
If your tiling was multi coloured you would have had more liberty.

Re: white or ivory silicone?
deffo use cream or champagne on the corners, but from experience i wouldnt use the coloured silicon against a white bath or part of the suite. i had feedback from customers saying that the cream silicon looks dirty against a white bath, suite. i use both cream and white accordingly on the same job now. will see if i have some pics to compare.

Re: white or ivory silicone?
I do the corners as close in colour to the grout, along the bath and other potware I usually do in white (assuming the suite is white of course

do you always call females mate?

Re: white or ivory silicone?
You could borrow a sample board from a tile shop. These are small amounts of cured silicone, it will give you a better idea of the shade. Hope this helps

Re: white or ivory silicone?
I was asked to use coloured silicone in this job but i would have preferred white. This is Beige though so its darker than Jasmine, with Jasmine i think it may have looked better.

Photo-0150.jpg still looks good but will take the advice of using white round the pottery etc and the colour just down the corner joint in the shower and may use the colour round the floor edge.. someone said about mixing some grout into clear sealant! how would you apply this??

Re: white or ivory silicone?
If I'am using a silicone joint in the corner of a wall for expansion I'd be choosing a colour that matched the tiles not the joints! I would want the black tiles to follow round the corner (as an extreme example) with a black silicone rather than have a white joint running 8feet up the wall!
If I'am sealing a white bath - I'd use a white silicone.

Re: white or ivory silicone?
Mapei make a range of coloured silicones and for natural stone colours 130 Jasmine/132 beige work well.
