    Default Tiler of the year???

would anyone else on the forum think it would be a good idea to have all the winners from say 2010, entered in to the competition for the forums tiler of the year, and say have the winner picked by some outsider big wig type, then try and get the winner some national recognition, along with the esteem for the quality of the forum, just an idea!! it would promote tiling as a whole IMHO

I think it wold have to be split up into categories if it was to happen, i.e vic floors, swiming pools, bathrooms etc. One decision would be not enough imo

Then you have the problem of guys with 30+ years experience up against guys with only a couple of years experience.

Idea in principal good, but, like football man of the match is usually guy who scores not the guys who made it happen. Bit of a hollow victory. Too many factors to take into account to give true reflection on anybodies skills and besides not all tilers would even enter to begin with. Sorry!.

yes but you could say the same about the job of the month , on every point made ,that is negative so far in all the above replies ,come on boys think positive think how it could promote an industry thats coming out of recession and help gain recognition for the tiler / forum on a national level

your idea definately comes from a good place gooner

if there was to be a tiler of the year, then it should be based on many factors..job of the month, customer feedback, forum contribution etc BUT the one thing that stands this forum out from the rest is the fact that it is a good spririted community that helps each other grow and improve and not just as tilers.

i like to think of myself on here a useful cog in a huge machine. no more no less. i love to help and love to learn so in my opinion, if you stand one person out, it kind of shades what the rest have done and thats the last thing i would want to do..

The tiler of the year 2009 is already a member on here, and he has entered for 2010 again, I taught him everything he knows but not everything i know
what you have suggested gooner is a good idea, I have to agree with aston tiling though.
Are you suggesting that the forum picks there own tiler of the year? or that the forum puts up one of its members to enter for the tiler of the year?
To enter for tiler of the year is very expensive and requires alot of time to put into it, and there are alot of big companies that enter, but on the other hand 2009 winner is a sole trader and not a national company, so it goes to prove any company has a chance of winning big or small.
The forum could contact the 2009 winner who has entered for 2010 again to see if they could work togeather and help each other out if this is what the forum and the member would like, and it could help promote the forum and help it gain recognition on a national level as you have previously stated.

I think what you have put forward is a good idea, however i wouldnt like the job of chooseing who to put forward for such a thing, as there is so many aspects to take into account.

true thats why i said in an earlier post that some big wig/wigs from the tiling industry could pick the winner some one not associated with the tiling forum

You cant have more than one tiler of the year. If every forum had one the honour would lack credability especially if one of them came from Tilerworld. Why not just enter the TTA awards and let the commitee there judge a winner.

Don't like proper tilers hey!!.. we are happy to have a winner of Tiler of the year with the TTA as a member....

Enjoy your time on tilersforums and we l ook forward to your input..

As for this tiler of the year on here... I don't think it is feasable... All our top posters are tiler of the year IMHO...

Top advice from top posters and one thing all members can aim for is being a tilers forums Elite member...

So get posting and get promoted..

TW didn't kick me off i asked for my profile to be removed. I felt the website wasn't promoting tilers or skills its aim was purely to promote BAL products.

The Tilersforum seems a completely different enviroment, alot more knowledge and experience and free speech!.

There are some very talented guys out there, your right. I do feel however that when you have a major competition like the TTA awards more guys should enter to show industry their abilitys. You have the perfect oppertunity to show your work off and get free publicity.

theres a bit of confusion with the quotes..that quote you have on your post above ar'nt my words, they are cerbera450's, for some reason it says 'originally posted by astontiling' ?????

i agree totally with you points tho jay, i feel that tilersforums has MORE than enough benefits for tilers.
