Marmox Installation methods.
Good Morning
I have an existing shower enclosure 3 x internal 4 inch blockwork walls bonded and skimmed which is 770mm - 775mm wide, it used to house an 800x800 tray which was very badly installed, cut into the walls and then a 760 bifold door installed at the front.
I want to put in a 760mm shower tray and in order to do so I will need to bring out 1 wall 12mm, at present I have removed all the old tiles and plaster skim from the bonding coat and was wondering how I go about prepping this area for tiling.
1.As it is bonding coat I believe I have no option but to plaster skim the walls, this will be done before any other work and allowed to dry for a week or so.
2. In order to bring the wall out to fit a 760mm tray I was going to stick 12mm marmox board up 1 wall, my questions here is on the marmox website it shows you can back butter the board with adhesive and stick it straight onto the wall(which is exactly what i need to do) if the wall is plaster skim how does that affect the tile weights etc.??
If i do stick marmox up the 1 wall I can then tank the other 2 walls, I normally use homelux matting and again if i put this unto the plaster skim how does that affect the tile weights.
Tiles for enclosure are 330mmx330mm ceramic floor/wall tiles and weigh 15kg per sqm.
Is there a different way to approach this.?
I would appreciate all comments
Many Thanks
Gary
p.p.s I will be priming the skimmed walls and using Bal spf addy.

Re: Marmox Installation methods.
Forgot to mention that I would probably mechanically fix the marmox (plugs screws and washers) when I have stuck it to the wall.
Same method as fixing hardi 250 on floors but marmox on walls.
This should helps the tile weight issue

Re: Marmox Installation methods.
Hi gazebo, I may be wrong but could you not just overboard with 13mm plasterboard and tank straight to that and save yourself alot of work.

Re: Marmox Installation methods.
do you mean dot n daB with 12.5mm plasterboard, .?
I can' do that on 2 walls as it will make it too small for tray.
