Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
I think it would be tooo much for the fein........cost a bloody fortune in blades as well.
Maybe a grinder and full mask/breathing app would be quicker and faster........still take a fair few disks mind

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
We've always used grinders and decent diamond wheels on pool re-grouts, mind yo thats when they're model 1100's not blinking mosiac

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
hi dave
the fein will be useful but imo its a case of the fein and one of those makita handheld wet saws from trade tiler. that will be ideal because you can set the base at a depth to dig out as much as you require. it has a water feed attachment to keep the dust down too. it will be a case of mopping up a bit as you go along but it will be faster than a fein because you can attack the long lines much quicker...
they use 4" diamond blades so stick one of you own on and your sorted..the fein would take forever but i would have one for the awkward bits

I've got a one of these cutters Ed mate, and as much as they are ideal for a lot of things the battery doesn't last two minutes

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
hi merle
no its not that one mate...
its like a circular saw for tiling and it has a water feed on. they are 110v, and you can set the depth and cut on angles for mitres etc.
i have got the dewalt version. roy from dewalt gave me one for free last jan 09. you cant get them in the uk, only import but the makita one is very good too, bit pricey tho

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
how about the fein with the diamond blade grout remover in it, this will remove it quicker, last longer and it is thinner then the standard one so you shouldnt chip the edge of the mosaic,
I wish i was there to give you a hand gooner NOT best of luck with this one! if all else fails you can use a stanley knife....

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
what about one of them tools advertised on sky tv,exacta saw i think they call them, not much good at cutting tiles but look ideal for grout removal.(thats if all tiles are lined up properly) its at the corners thats gonna be a nightmare. i would have thought the job would have been easier to do if it had just been drained so a little moister was left on grout, not left drained for a long time to dry up.(ps i know nothing about swimming pools)

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
Not an area I frequent but been through it not a major town but may have built up over the years, it's on the edge of hertfordshire near Cambridge.

Re: job next week in Hertfordshire on a pool
As beam says its just a village, Royston is nearest town, a small old market town with a few pubs, the nearest life is probably Hertford which is buzzing weekends or North to Cambridge.
