Need some help with bidding for a job
Hi Guys I'm new at this. I'm not actually doing the tiling but I have someone who is a tiler. I was wondering what % to add to his quote which would be reasonable compensation for me finding the job and coordinating with my tiler. I think 25% would be too steep and I don't want to bid too high. would 15% be reasonable? what do you guys think?
Thanks.

Re: Need some help with bidding for a job
Whatever percentage you feel is required to provide a competitive and professional estimate to your client is acceptable.
As you will become the main contractor and will thus be liable for all the ongoing standards of workmanship and guarantees that will be required.
Don't forget to include the sub contractors taxable deductions and returns of paperwork necessary for Customs & Excise.

He's not in the UK John, but useful for some
As for what % you add it all depends on how much you are doing for it, i.e. leg work

Re: Need some help with bidding for a job
Thanks guys much appreciated!
yeah good thing we don't have to worry about tax etc here. I figure 20%. someone I know up in Canada used to subcontract work out and he was in the maintenance biz but I can't for the life of me remember what % he used to add on. He became a multi millionaire up there doing this. smart guy. however very stressful biz. he ended up having a triple bypass.

Re: Need some help with bidding for a job
For reference around 10% of total job is a common charge for an interior designer or a project manager

Thanks CR so I best go back to 15%. 10% is a referral around here but I will also be on the job site overseeing the work and also doing the quote under my business.

You can charge whatever you like as long as you are competitive, but remember that if anything goes wrong then it's you that is responsible so make sure you trust this companies work as it will be done in your name
