| old council vinyl tiles | | I have been asked to quote on a job, downstairs loo, hall, kitchen, utility room floor. The whole lot is covered in those green and blue vinyl tiles the council used to put in. It will be a nightmare to try and get these up and then a flat deck to tile on. Would you tile straight on top of these, and what gear would you use, there is no movement in the tiles. Nice people, trying to keep materials cost low, thanks | | |

| Re: old council vinyl tiles | | According to the Weber Tling Solutions book, this is acceptable provided the are securely fixed. They recommend a rapid set flexy and of course a flexy grout.

#6 | | Tilers Forums Admin | Re: old council vinyl tiles | | Existing vinyl tiles should be firmly bonded to their base and must be in sound, clean condition.S Any loose tiles should be removed and made good with a levelling compound, e.g. BAL ACRYBASE, dependent on underlying substrate. Remove all traces of grease/polish. prime with BAL Bond SBR and allow to dry. Fix tiles within 24 hours of priming..........................dave..... | |
