Hello tilers, i have a question which i hope someone will be able to help with, i have tiled some kitchen splashbacks which sit on top of solid oak worktops ... -

Some worktops come pre-sealed and then need further sealing once installed. There is no set number of coats, they should have as many coats as it takes until the wood can no longer absorb any more, in addition it is best practice to seal every couple of weeks as and when after installtion for the first six months then every 3 months until you are doing it just twice a year.
I would leave it a little longer to see if it drys, how long was the wet grout in contact with the worktops before you cleaned away?

Similar to certain woods used in skirting/architrave that stains when it comes into contact with water.

Thanks for your quick replies, the grout was only on the tops for a few minutes it was mainly when wiping down using a clean sponge, i popped round this afternoon and told them to leave for couple of days to see if it dries out.

i think you may find that the cement has burnt the wood it might dry out should always cover the work tops but good luck
