Default First Mosaic Job (opinions please)

Hi guys, here are some photos of my very first mosaic job which i did for a work colleague.

In my inexperience i went round measured up and quoted before they had picked the tiles, turned out his mrs picked these tiles, luckily he was very understanding and paid me more than i was expecting.

As you can see they were glass mosaics (brick effect on mesh), as they were brick effect the ends of the sheets were dogtoothed/staggered so in the corners where both walls met i had to cut a little peice for every other row and stick it in (very time consuming).

I am quite happy with the end result but just wanted to see what you all thought (constructive critisism welcome!).

    Cheers

    Col

Excellent job. Just out of curiosity do they have to be fireproofed? or are they far enough from the range.

PS: Shelf above is a bit wonky!

Oh my god what is that looks fine to me well done mosaics are not the easiest off tile to tile with, I hate it when they are not glued onto the sheet strait and you have to end up cutting it out and re-sticking it back in strait! well done though nice job

I'd have been tempted to take the mosaics on the reveals right up to same height as extractor and back wall. This would 've meant the grout lines dipping as you go up, but with a bit of careful snipping of the mesh you could've spread the joints a little. But looks good Colin

I'm not sure that would have looked good Doug, the walls are so out it would have taken an age, possible for sure but end result i'm not so sure on. But personal opinion really

In fact I don't think I would have fixed mosaic in this instance not with the rustic plaster look they have gone for. They clearly didn't won't ultra modern clean lines due to the country kitchen look.

I might have gone for brick bond slate if it was my kitchen.... but anyway nothing wrong with the job, in fact it's quite a hard one to do as you can see the back wall wasn't flat either. You will have far easier mosaic jobs to do Colin so to do this on your first is nothing short of a miracle!

    Well done
