Moving tile
Hello All,
I finished tiling a shower room last week only to discover, as I was grouting that one of the cut tiles around the shower tray (cut in L shape) is moving. i e, you can push it at one end and it bends, as if there's nothing underneath it. I ( probably rather stupidly) grouted it anyway but now the grout is crumbling away when I push it. Just wondering if there's any easy way to correct this or should I just smash it off and fit another. The wall under this tile is quite un even.
Cheers - Brendan

Re: Moving tile
Take it out and fix it now as it will only come away in the future when you wont be able to get the same batch of tiles

Re: Moving tile
I thought that, but just hoping I could maybe squeeze a bit of adhesive behind there some how...I'm just being lazy I guess.
Cheers.

Re: Moving tile
Is this on the wall? It sound like the wall wasn't flat, so it needs packing out (assuming you didn't dot and dab the tiles).

Re: Moving tile
brendan we are the gods of the trade world, we are the finished product if it doesnt fit right or feel right it is your duty to fix it . replace immediately before you get a bad name and maybe lose another job because of it.Remember that the sun should shine out of backsides because tilers are THE BEST. a lesson learnt i hope.

Re: Moving tile
OK, I hear you loud and clear. I'm going back to do his floor next week so I'll replace it then. It's definatley going to sit a bit higher at one end, to the tile next to it I think, but this is unavoidable now. What's the maximum acceptable?

Re: Moving tile

Re: Moving tile
I`m a bit puzzled to your last post ?
you say that the tile will be slightly higher?

Re: Moving tile
Take a hammer and bolster with you. If it's just a high point on the floor causing it to kick up, try and chip the offending lump away.

Re: Moving tile
The tray's not moving. I Just think there's a high point beneath the middle of the tile, giving one end movement like the end of a diving board (up & down). I Should be able to chip away at it and thinking about it, this shouldn't result in lippage at either end.
Thanks for all the advice.
