snapping porcelain
could you lads give me some advice about a problem i've been having snapping porc floor tiles recently.i always use my rubi ts60 plus and never had any problems but just lately when i try to snap them after scoring nothing happens except the breaker lever feels like its bending.i was wondering if the breaker mechanism is kaput (how often should they be replaced ) or could it be something as simple as needing a new wheel but to be honest i don't think this would affect it to such a degree, thoughts please boys

Re: snapping porcelain
I had the same problem with my ts60, I got a tx700 and that cured the problem

seriously Bluemoon, I don't really know the answer to that one, but I did have the problem with my old ts60, but I never really liked it anyway

Re: snapping porcelain
just fixed a porcelain floor today 300 x 600 using my t60 plus and had a similar problem. the face of the tile was pretty nuclear (glittery effect!) which I'm sure contributed to the bend in the breaker arm!..I changed wheels and although the rubi larger wheel is recommended for harder tiles I found the 10mm gold worked better and stopped the resistance in the breaker. Having said that I chuck a fair amount of 3 in 1 oil in my machines breakers this time of year as they seem to be worse when the tempreture drops! (that's showing my age..harks back to using the 'superior' tile cutters!) but prehaps that is me being superstitious!.anyhoo try a wheel change ..try clearing the breaker mechanism and a little oil..then try replacing!
I saw a really really sad looking guy in a tow truck this morning..I thought 'He's heading for a breakdown'
