Getting the level between the bathroom and hallway level

We have had a porcelain floor installed in our bathroom and where the door joins the hallway there is a diiference of 2.5cms. Also he has sloped made the join by then tilting and cutting the final bit which looks awfull. he has used 12mm and then 6mm backerboard then the grouting then the 10mm of the tiles. Is this too much? Thanks for any advice...

cant see what you can do..now the floor is down.. what type of trim finishes the tile to carpet etc..........dave..

none just horrible slopeing tiles and grout

Don't really see what can be done now that the tiles are down.

Could you not remove the sloping tiles and relay same height as others, and then some way put a wooden door threshold in? might be able to slope that to look better, just a thought.

Firstly I think a decent transition strip will help to make things better. I'd also guess it would look better if the tiles didn't slope down so it looked like a proper step rather than something in between a step and a slope.

Something ive done a few times is to put a timber "ramp" under the carpet to run up to the edge of the tiles. You can plane up a length of 6x1 , basically going from 3/4 down to nothing acros the width of the , like a piece of featheredge, and the fix it to the floorboard. Visually it looks OK but you still tend to bump into the slope with your feet.

I would remove sloping tile and relay level, then fit a flat silver or brass trim, and under the carpet use underlay or spare carpet or the thick green stuff used for laminate, to gradually step upto the bathroom.
