Help
Hi every one , have just been to see a job it bout 160m2 of floor kitchen dining, utility, living area, conservatory, 1 bedroom, showeroom & entrance porch. Under floor heating .Customer want tiles to run through from room to room no breaks, using 60x60 polish porcelain.
Customer not keen on expansion joints,
Would it be possible to tile without, any suggestions would be great
Thanks

Re: Help
Tell him he has no choice but to accept expansion joints cos if you don't put them in a tile face that large it will most likley crack and at worst fail especially with undefloor heating. What is the substrate?
you must all buy this song from any good download site for just 79p. Proceeds to Blesma, RAFA and RAFBF charities

Re: Help
What about perimeter expansion joints? Schluter do them, Ditra matting is another option.
You do not need a visible expansion joint.

Re: Help
My first question would be where is he getting the 60x60cm polished porcelain from and how much is he paying for it?
If its BQ tell him to buy extra and just replace the tiles that crack with the lateral movement.
Its bound to be cheaper than paying £2000-00 extra to do it properly with a decoupling membrane.
But then again I may be completely wrong in which case any area over 4 metres wide should incorporate a movement joint and expansion at the edges/walls and around any columns.
Is it a wet UFH system are you laying an electric system.
