Streaky Porcelain.
HI,
This is a first post so I apologise if it's not in the right place, portrays me as a half wit, is full of typos or is just on the wrong forum altogether.
Our tiler refuses to seal tiles and delegates these jobs to me, but he's away and will rip the urine out of me if the job isn't ready for him when he gets back...
So we've bought porcelain tiles from B&Q, not the very cheap ones which I've seen criticised on here.
I've got the Plaspugs polished porcelain sealer. I've followed the instructions. It doesn't buff to a shine, it stays streaky. B&Q can't offer advice until tomorrow and I was hoping to have it done today.
The tiles aren't laid (obviously) but if I can't them shiny they are going to have to go back. I was considering getting a car polisher, is that insanity?
Any suggestions (beyond polish harder). I've left the stuff to dry overnight but that has made no difference. I've applied another coat. I've tried different cloths. My only thought is that I just haven't left it long enough or the stuff is rubbish...
Thanks,
Pete

Re: Streaky Porcelain.
Hi pete and welcome.....
Some polished porcelain tiles have a transit wax on them and this needs to be removed before any sealing can be carried out, you will never get a shine till this is removed and is a regular occurance on here for the public buying them.
Lithofin Abra clean or lithofin Wax remover are 2 good ones to do the job.

Re: Streaky Porcelain.
Why won't your tiler seal them? I could understand if he gave you the option of sealing them youself to save a bit of money but to refuse do it is crazy. Did he give you instructions on how to seal them? or just leave you to your own devices?
