This guy is attempting to put off people buying tiles, and he included lots of links to his laminate flooring website. Checkout the lengths he's gone to make a statement!

Re: Tile apparently contain radioactive substance
aldehydes are found in everday products such as washing powders and soaps... you stand more chance of being harmed in that way than you do from standing on a tiled floor or taking a shower...

Time to get the silver suit out then

Re: Tile apparently contain radioactive substance
And I'm pretty sure Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde goes on to become Hexyl Cinnamol which is found mostly in shampoo... but let me check my facts on that.... it's handy working with 2 PHd chemists

Re: Tile apparently contain radioactive substance
There will be levels of various substances in all man-made and natural materials, after all, we're all made up of the same stuff ("We're all made of Star stuff" - Carl Sagan), but this guy's claiming you should buy his Chinese Laminate Flooring over and above any 'Granite, Ceramic Tile, Marble, etc'.
Did a search on the net and they're spamming loads of forums and article websites with the same content.

Re: Tile apparently contain radioactive substance
why would anybody want to buy Chinese laminate flooring? It would cost a fortune to import it

Well, I'm completely bu****ed here in Italy then! We have (literally) mountains of the stuff here. So, it's lead flooring for us then?

Re: Tile apparently contain radioactive substance
some natural stones emit radon gas which is radiactive it is very rare however and areas where this occurs normally have special dpm membranes which stop radon gas entering the home through the sub floor ,I think there are areas in northhamptonshire where this occurs and some other places in the uk. radon gas is also emitted from some granites but the amonts are so low it is neglible to effect your health so dont let anyone scare you .

Re: Tile apparently contain radioactive substance
You are right Gary …. I try not to live in fear of radon but it just scares me so much, I don’t think I’m ever gonna go camping in Cornwall ever again – the place is just one big radioactive lump. Its also the reason why my watch is a post radio-active nightglow, I’ve always been a strong supporter of tritium just in case I should accidentally swallow my beloved timepiece.
Just as soon as the laminates section is added to my website I’ll let you all know so you can come on my training course – resistance is futile tile-heads – you will be assimilated.
Yours faithfully – the laminate Borg.
