Hi all, have a conservatory floor to tile that has a man hole cover slap bang in the middle of the floor! havn't had to deal with this before, does ... -

Hi all, have a conservatory floor to tile that has a man hole cover slap bang in the middle of the floor! havn't had to deal with this before, does any one have any tips for this. They want to have access to the man hole cover. also putting ufh in. sure they will always have a cold spot in the middle of the floor.

block paviours they are called and are around £35 to £45 depending on size..600x450 600x600 i used to work in a merchants years ago.

it does have one of those covers, i was thinking of the best way to tile, just think ut will look a bit bitty have to have cut tils in the middle of the floor. no way around this i suppose.

Just follow the lines of the tiles, slurry, screed and gauge to the thickness of the tile and adhesive in the insert

Are those covers sealed ? ( air tight)
lets hope it dont block cos it will stink.

if they are done neatly they can look okay, obviously we would all rather avoid them as they do spoil the look of any floor , you need to make up a batten with the thickness of the tile and adhesive cut out to form a shoulder either side the width of the cover this will give you the correct depth when you fill the cover with screed/levelling compound you dont have to remove the cover when grouting just tape up the gaps with good masking tape before you tile and grout it and simply remove the tape when you have finished the job here is a picture of one I tiled recently

thanks for advice and pic chaps, just seems like putting lipstick on a pig. its a new build consevatory only 6m2, you would have thought the man hole could have been outside????
