i was watching some americans laying trave today on the above, they put down thin set then screed/morta then back butterd the tile then beat the tile with a mallet, witch reminded me of a pool i did up north sheffield and two polish guys did the trave around the pool in a simila style, do any of you guys do this method of laying????????

Re: u-tube
It is called fixing with mud...and a very good method....if done right..but old school fixing..the adhesive on the sub and tile back is a bond coat..similar to slurrying..once dry it is like bell metal...

Re: u-tube
used to lay quarries like it in factories. prime floor with sbr, lay semi dry screed over top, mix slurry on back of tile then beat tile in. absolutley rock solid.

i use this method quite often as Dave says it is a good method when done correctly takes a lot of experience to get right as if you set the bed badly or mix your mortar too dry/too wet you can get lloose hollow sounding tiles

Re: u-tube
I've seen this done in the streets in spain once. Loads of guys doing it, and mixing the cement/adhesive with their shoes and socks off in a huge bucket.
You know, you can copy and paste the web address when you're watching a youtube video and paste it into a post to add the video to the forums.
Just for future reference.
