Discuss ply lifting in corners in the Tiling Forum at TilersForums; just priced a floor which has been plyed and is flat apart from round the wc and corners of the room, the ply tends to go upwards by around 10mm? ...

    Default ply lifting in corners

    just priced a floor which has been plyed and is flat apart from round the wc and corners of the room, the ply tends to go upwards by around 10mm? meaning the tiles are gona rise at the edges totaly spoiling the job ! just wondering wot u guys / gals would do ?

    Why is it lifting mate, cant you screw it down in the corners, is it the sub floor lifting and raising the ply with it, possibly water ingress warping the ply is it WBP?

    if it's round the toilet, it sounds like it could be damp, swollen chipboard flooring under your ply

    What would I do - I'd rip it all up ( wearing gloves) and chuck it in the skip!
    Relay Hardie tile backer boards and make it a perfect job.
    If te customer will not accept that tell them to hit the pot next time!

    ply is 6mm and might be the joists or something because the ply is all nailed and solid and dry !

    6mm ply full stop is not good..

    rip it out back to joists replace with 25 mm wpb
