adhesive not going off
used some mapei kerraquick last night, mixed up about 9pm. the remains were left in the buket and chucked in the skip.
12.00 today 15 hours later we retuned to find it still workable in the bucket.
has anyone else come across this problem, its the second time its happened to me with this adhesive.

Re: adhesive not going off
Cant recollect that happening, going off fast a few times but not slowly. The only similar thing that happened to me was when I mixed grey/white granfix flexy together because I was running short, it was only for 2 floor tiles and they would just not go off, 12 hours after fitting they could still be moved.

Re: adhesive not going off
come to think of it i did mix a bit of white in with it to thicken it up a bit but it was still both kerraquick. luckily i was only fixing ditra down and that had gone off ok

Did you water the mix down to keep it workable or just straight from the bag and no further mixing..?...

Re: adhesive not going off
my experience with keraquick is 30-40mins, i have no idea what has gone wrong, on the bags is a production date (in dot matrix) call them and ask if there has been a problem.
that said i have been using mapei for 10 years WITHOUT A SINGLE PROBLEM, and no i dont work for them.
sorry you have an issue as i reccommend mapei everyday of my life!
and you should never mix products.... even grey and white!

I phoned Jim at the time who is the Granfix tech guy ( nice bloke ) and he told me it was the two adhesives working against each other, never mix white/grey , It will be interesting to see what Mapei say when you tell them you mixed white and grey.

Re: adhesive not going off
only started using mapei this year and i really like the stuff, good bucket life and mixes up great. a bit more expensive than what i was using but seems worth it. bought a batch of 20 bags a month ago for a job and this was the last remaining bag, all the rest were fine.

Re: adhesive not going off
jokes aside, it is NOT reccommended to mix products!
the adhesive manafactures will not stand by thier warranties, which is not a good thing, although, IMO they dont anyway, it is always the installers fault, dont mix 'em (for diamond) and at least you stand a chance, small chance, tiny tiny chance!
better luck next time, and although it has not set in the "expected" time does not mean it will not set!
best wishes
oh and call mapei, you can bet youre bottom dollar they have mixed them and have the answer!
