Default Which tiles to use on wet room floor?

New member here making my first query. As mentioned on my intro posting I’m embarking on my first wet room project. I’m researching what tiles to use for the shower area floor. Travertine seems to be the thing at pres, but am I correct in believing that it needs to be sealed, then treated again every few months to make it waterproof?

Other than Travertine, can anyone suggest suitable non-slip, preferably small or mosaic tiles that will do for the shower floor?

glass mosaics are good for shower floors,if travertine is sealed properly then it will only need re-done every 1/2 years

Travertine is fine for wetrooms....and depending on sealer it will last 5 to 10 yrs or more...and how you look after it....just make sure you buy a first grade and not some of the commercial grades that are about at present...cheap does not mean good quality..

With ceramics you get a sharper edge to your cut when creating slopes for the falls. not great IMO.

Do you not think glass can be a bit slippery DC?

Personally, I like pebble mosaics for wetroom floors.
Large format tiles can look nice with neat envelope cuts. Small glass mosaics look nice and maintain the fall without lips or sharp edges.
Travertine will be very durable provided it is sealed correctly when installed, but will require future maintenance in years to come.

I like the idea of the pebble mosaics. Will see what's available. Will they need a special type of cement/grout?

Depending on the type of mosaic, you will need a boat load of grout! Just a single part flexible adhesive should be fine depending on the substrate.

I usually use Mapei Ultracolour grout.

Somwe pebble mosaics do need sealing - check with your supplier.
