are you using a spirit level or laser level? if you use the latter it will help with this as you can set out your datum for all walls without this happening, whereas using a spirit level and being only 1/2mm out can cause this

If using a spirit level, flip it over after each length to mark your datum line so the innaccuracy in your spirit level is not accumulating, that way the line around the whole room won't be more than half a mm out (depending on the accuracy of your spirit level of course)

Vince - I think the advice of Alan P is the datum here - spot on - spend the first 20mins in a bathroom sitting on the loo looking at the walls.
Make a marking stick out of the tiles and mark the tile sizes with the joint your using.
Staff out the walls for the best cuts all around and find that middle datum line that you will be working from.
Get the best level you can afford and draw a 'level' line all the way around the room and get it to meet at that fourth wall.
Keep to this line all the time and your problems will not occur!
Preparation is the name of the game.

Ive never had much luck with levels either , in a big room im always out a few mill.
Switched to a dumpy style lazer level and never looked back.

I always spend easy 20- 30 mins setting out , mark the middle of all walls and centrepoint of floor and then use my tile stick to setout.
Takes bugger all time and ensures a perfect setout every time .

a dumpy style laser level is, I'm assuming, a laser level on a tripod. Prices vary according to quality
