    Default Help Laying Porcelain Tiles

    Hi all,

I have just had some conflicting advice about Porcelain Tiles, I have bought some Keope Porcelain Tiles from Topps, they are not polished. Please help,

1, Can grey adhesive (BAL, Gold Star) seep through the tile?
2, Do I need to seal the tiles before laying or can I seal them after laying?
3, Can I grout the same as I would with a ceramic and wipe the excess off after or will it stain the surface of the Porcelain?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Gazza

I've not seen the exact tile so will assume it's a full bodied porcelain.

    1) It shouldn't do as a porcelain tile has properties similar to glass. The only thing to consider is if the material is translucent like marble. You may see the adhesive showing through the tile. Try holding the tile up to the light.
    2) You can seal before laying but if you work clean then you'll be alright sealing after laying/before grouting
    3) If you have properly sealed the tile prior to grouting then you can grout normally. Best thing is to try it on an offcut first just to make sure.

Grey adhesive will be fine with keope porcelainl....make sure adhesive is pocelbond..
Seal with porcelain impregnator before grouting... easier to clean off grout and stops stains..
