    Default Dilemma!!

Im in a bit of a predicament at the moment. Juts back from Australia where i travelled for 9 months. before I left I was working full time in a ****ty office job and was trying to start my tiling business on the side.

I done the NETT course back in Oct 2007 and done around 9 or 10 jobs. done splashbacks, floors, etc but never done a full bathroom. I enjoyed it and never had a complaint about the work I done.

Anyway I enjoy tiling and would love to have my own business but at the same time it's going to take a lot getting re-started and building contacts an that whilst trying to make some money to live off. on top of that I need some new tools (wet cutter and trowels) which all cost money. I have some temporary work helping my dads mate lay driveways but it wont last (maybe a month)

Im torn between getting stuck into the tiling and trying to find a full time job (career). was thinking about going offshore but again that costs money (rgit etc)

my girlfriend is going to college so we realy wont have a lot of money coming in. Like I say i'd love to continue tiling but the lure of full time work is appealing.

anyone had similar troubles or anyone got any advice that can help? at a bit of a crossroads at the moment. Ideally I'd like to "shadow" a tiler for a while to really get to know the ins an outs of it all.

    thanks

    Yes Falcone

Am current doing the same type of s****y office job and tiling part time while I wait for the economy to pick up. Gaining valuable experience too and spoken to one of the guys on here who gave me some pointers and more valuable, practical advice.

Good luck in whatever choice you make.

    Falcone,
What do you see yourself doing offshore? You could get a nice 2 on 2 off deal. Guaranteed money and take tile work when at home. If you where on a rotation you could book work ahead.
Once the tiling work is busy you could look at the finances and decide from there.

Your only an hours drive from the heliports, seriously worth considering in the present climate.

i would seriously think about getting some money behind you before jumping into a career as a tiler at the moment,as you say you will need money for tools, also advertising and materials for those first few jobs.
why not work full-tie and give yourself a deadline to start tiling, you could even book jobs in for that date so you have a few bookings in the diary to begin with good luck

there's only you can make the choice Falcone, it's a lifestyle choice, all down to key skills etc. If you think you may need more time before committing to a full time tiling carrer, take more time.

No mate. I understand there has been pics etc from someone elses site taken and used on that website. have had an email from the person and have replied.

My friend, who was going to go into business with me but went back to his day job after a couple of months got his brother to make a website for the joint business. he put the website under my email address as he never had one at the time. I never seen the site as I went my seperate ways from him after he botched the first job he done!! He continued to advertise and done 2 or 3 jobs under the name of the company then went back to his day job. As far as i know that company doesnt exist.

I dont have a name for my business yet and can assure you I never had anything to do with making that website.

am looking into getting this site taken down. how do you do this?

    thanks
