45 degree angles
Hello,
Looking for a little advice please. We need to tile a wall that has a 45 degree angle (rougly) and I assumed I could get a trim to suit it but the tile shop said they dont do any to suit.
Whats the best thing to do to finnish the tiling off? Was thinking of tunning white silicone?
Ideas appreciated.
thank you

Re: 45 degree angles
When you say a 45 degree angle what do you mean, the pitch of the ceiling, a corner???
Photo's are always helpfull if you could take some and post em up.

Re: 45 degree angles

Re: 45 degree angles
Sorry I should have be clearer,
it is not easy to explain.
Imagine a hexagon shape, if you were tiling a hexigon there would be gaps where the tiles meet.
The wall is at an angle like a hexagon. (if that makes sence?)

Re: 45 degree angles
you can bend plastic trim around it by taking notches out the back of the trim to allow it to bend.It can be done with metal trim put a little more trickier.

Re: 45 degree angles
I think minion is on about vertical corners Bri, personally I'd mitre them, like below

the corner on the left is an external mitre, the one on the right an internal mitre

Re: 45 degree angles
yes, i agree doug. i would mitre the tile, and have a grout joint, i would not use silicone or a trim.
maybe the lads would correct me if they think its wrong, but wat i did b4 was mitre one tile at 45 and put the next one up to it with your desired grout joint.

Re: 45 degree angles
Thats the type of wall!
What tool would I use to mitre them? I have done it before with skirtings etc but dont have a tool for doing it with tiles.
Where can I buy one? and what would I call it?
Cheers

Re: 45 degree angles
well the best tool would be a wet saw,
you could get a simple and cheap one in b&q.
but if it was me, i would go and hire a professional one from a HSS Hire.
some of those simple cheap are not that great.
best of luck mate.

Re: 45 degree angles
you need to be able to tilt the table top or blade through to 45 dgs, I mitred both corners to within about 2mm of the face of the tile to soften the corner and to stop the glaze chipping
