    Default Montblanc charcoal anyone?

I am struggling to find any info on 'montblanc charcoal' tiles. I think they are from tile giant. They are 60x60 and way bigger than anything I have tiled before.

I am also wondering what they are made of and whether they need sealed etc? Anyone ever used these? Or any advice on these or larger tiles in general would be greatly appreciated!

yeah , the nearest shop is about an hours drive away thou. Just thought there may be someone on here that has worked with them before. I'll give them a buzz.

Anyone know what adhesive would be best with the larger 60x60 tiles?

defenatley a cement based adhesive,if it's anything other than a concrete foor you will probably need flexible either single or 2 part flex depending on the deflection

i would use mapeis keraflex maxi on the walls ( you can use on the floor as well but takes 24 hrs to dry ) and keraquick with the latex plus fluid for the floor.. before starting make sure your substrates will take the weight of the tiles..

Sorry for the very late reply to this thread

The Montblanc range is a glazed porcelain.

They may be alittle too heavy to go onto a wall if you are going onto plasterboard

No probs matt, you replied to my PM super quick so no worries... apart from...

I phoned the hillington branch and mentioned trade discount etc as you advised. I was told over the phone the trade discount was around £2 a tile cheaper. So I calculated 'full' price to be £396.77 (14.35sqy's at £27.65sqy) and waited for my 'trade' price. The trade price they came back with was £376? I questioned it and they said it was correct and that was that. I reckon there are 30+ tiles so £20 discount? That aint £2 a tile cheaper?

So I walked into the kilmarnock shop as a 'straight off the street' punter. No mention of trade discount at all. And I was roughly quoted 'under' £350 for same amount? So long story short I eventually bought a little less at 10sqm for under £300. Needless to say I never bothered with a trade discount! The guy in Kilmarnock (can't remember his name) was super helpful and if it wasn't for him I would have went elsewhere to be honest. So pat on the back for him!

So why is 'trade' discount more expensive than a normal punter?

Hmmm, that is odd. Trade discount should and is less than what a regular customer pays. Business is tough out there so sometimes discount is given to regular customers.

It was the 600 x 600 that you had? If so, there are 2.77 tiles to the square metre, so you would of needed 40 tiles for the 14.35sqm. I am not at work, so can't check the prices (I will check in the morning though), but you should have saved £80 which would of been £316 for the 40 tiles.

How many tiles did you get? 28? Do you mind if I ask how much exactly you paid for the tiles?

I am glad you got the tiles at a price you are happy with, but I will look into what has happened. I can only guess that the staff member from Hillington made a mistake. We try very hard to not give trade prices out over the phone (Unless it is a known tradesman ofcourse), as it could be anyone that calls.
