    Default Painted walls

    Hello. Got a large kitchen needs tiling decent plaster skim walls but painted all over some time ago, paint still very stable on walls. Any recommendations of the best way to tile the walls. thanks

    What sort of paint ? Best practice would be to strip the paint back to the substrate, that way the addy is keying to the plaster and not to the painted surface, as always, check the directions on the adhesive for priming needs.

    use a corse paper on ye sander and whip the paint off....

    get a sharp scraper the triangle one and run it along the wall to get the paint off works for me nearly every time, one thing i never do is tile on top of paint.

    If its normal paint, you can soak a small area at a time (like 1m^2) with warm water using a sponge , and using a 4in scraper and the right angle, it should come off in sheets. Be sure to soak the wall 2 or 3 times, and let it soak into the paint for about 10-20secs, then start scraping.

    Be aware though that you should leave the walls to dry out before you prime them. Wont take long though.
