Discuss grout residue on porcelain ? in the Tiling Forum at TilersForums; anyone no how you would get grout of porclin tiles ? its a mates job and he rang me for advice but iam not clued up on porclin yet ! ...

    Default grout residue on porcelain ?

    anyone no how you would get grout of porclin tiles ? its a mates job and he rang me for advice but iam not clued up on porclin yet ! tiles are 600 by 300 they look unglazed and have a bumpy finish. he grouted and washed of as normal but customer rang him the next day to say all the tiles are stained with reside grout and wont clean off? any ideas would be great thanks !!

    You need a grout residue remover, i use the one that LTP do availiblle from tile giant,mae sure you do a test area first

    after the fact, but always best to make sure it's cleaned off properly before it sets

    Make sure you dont get any on the grout as it will discolour

    I can't speak for the LTP product, but the H&G version doesn't discolour the grout. A test are should show whether this will happen or not, but i don't think it's supposed to.

    Just checked what brand it was and you were right Beanz it was LTP

    I would use Aqua mix sealer & coating remover, if its a real problem to remove.

    lithofin cement away can also be used, watered down at first and up the concentration if need be!

    Ltp actually will reverse any bleaching caused by other residue removers, i did not believe this myself at the time their rep informed me of this, but seeing was believing, and it does work.

    good suggestion but the sealing & coating will bust down the polymers then you need some phos acid as well
