Having never used SLC before - i'm just looking for a bit guidance as to how to do it. I'm a good plasterer so have that behind me. It is gonna go over a grano screed that is generally quite level but rough, the floor is about 10 sqm. How do you make sure the end result is nice and flat, its not like you can put a level on it. I was gonna mix it up, pour into the corner of the room, trowl a small amount to push it into the corners, then mix up another batch and thro that next to the first, blend together and then leave it to find its own level - will it work, or is there more to it than that?

i have the same question my floor is 15 sqm i was going to mix up start at one end and work my way back to door but unsure do i mix it all at once or what

using your longest level check floor levels and then start to level from lowest point,, float about as you pour and leave leveller to do the rest....

I always mix slc with a fraction more water than the instructions say, that way you sometimes dont need to trowel it at all as long as you pour it slowly and fairly evenly it will find its own way.
I use one of the medium sized 'gorilla tubs' coz you can mix up loads each time and theyre good for pouring as they have 2 handles so it pours like a spout. careful though coz they can be bloody heavy once theyre full!

Adding more water than specified increases the risk of the leveller cracking and also increases the drying times.....

I only mean a little water dave mate, maybe half a pint if that? not an extra bucket full. Just helps it pour and level nicer. Never had a problem before.
