Default How to work out many tiles I need?...

Hi All

As I'm not a professional tiler yet, I was wondering I you guys could tell me how to calculate the quantity of tiles required for a floor or bathroom. What is the formula for working this out or is it just basic maths that I haven't managed to grasp yet.

I usually let Topps or whoever is supplying the tiles work it out for me, but would love to do it my self.

Thanks

multiply the height by the length in cm or parts of a metre

ie

2.4m x 1.6 m = 3.84m
2.4m x 1.6 m = 3.84m
2.4m x 1.6 m = 3.84m
2.4m x 1.6 m = 3.84m

15.36
1.54
you need 17m2

remember to deduct for windows and doors, and baths etc a door is roughly 2m2

do the same for each wall then add together, then add 10% for wastage and breakage

floor is the same

easy peasiness

A few "formulas" for you if you ever get measurements in imperial

To convert from Feet to M2:

6 x 6 = 36 Feet2
36 / 9 = 4 Yard2
4 / 1.1960 = 3.34 M2
So, 6 x 6 is 3.34M2

To convert from inches to M2:

72 x 72 = 5184 Inches2

5184 / 1550 = 3.34M2

to make it even easier when measuring bathroom walls take each wall as a whole multiply length by height leaving in windows and doors and use the extra eg window ,door, bath as your wastage.
