Default cutting 1 inch 'penny round' mosaics

Hi,

Sadly I'm nowhere near a sheet or a cutter otherwise I would test myself.

I'm considering using these on a job. If I do, I would need to cut a square hole in a sheet of them to fit around a square trap in a shower tray so will need to selectively snip these round mosaics to create some straight edges - alternative is removing whole tiles and having big grout holes (not good).

Has anyone tried snipping these small tiles? Do they tend to cut well or are they prone to shattering?

Thanks,

Alex

you will need to cut these using a grinder with a top quality diamond blade you will also need to cut them on a surface which stops the vibration which causes the mosaic to chip and shatter, when cutting long straight cuts through the sheet mark your cuts from a full sheet, place the sheet on double folded card board clamp a piece of wood along the line of the cut using speed clamps then use this as a guide for your grinder cut , this wiil give you a good cut and you can fit this into place without the need to nip every individual tile ,montolit do an electric mosaic cutting machine which is a superb piece of kit but expensive at nearly £700
hope this helps i have a job coming up with this material within the next couple of weeks i will post some pictures when its finished

lay the full sheets and remove a few "pennies" from a wasted sheet,
then use tile nippers to cut them into a perfect fit!
dot them in individually, (hope thats how it spelt!)
