Filling small low spot in shower
I finished up my DIY shower and all is well except . . . The floor is evenly spaced small rock/pebble (laid in mortar with grout) which was properly lined and sloped etc so all of the water (OK, 95% of the water) drains nicely. I do have one small area (3" by 5" in a 36" by 60" shower) that retains water (a puddle). My plan is to simply go back to that area and add a small bit of grout to raise it. My questions to all of you wise ones is: Will this plan work? Can I simply add a layer of grout on top of the existing grout (which has been in for 60 days or so).
Thanks!
Bill

Re: Filling small low spot in shower
If the recessed grout area has at least 3mm or so in depth for the new grout to hold then, it should be fine but without actually seeing it , it will your call.

Re: Filling small low spot in shower
I did the same as you. (grouted over my grout) simply because I thought I had wiped away too much and the effect was a raked back look. I didnt want that so just skimmed over the first lot with an additional lot.
So far (5 years) and it hasnt seperated. Grout is a tough bugger so it does seem to stick quite well. I guess if you could dig it out a bit to give it more of a key that might help.
Failing that as Dave says its really "your call".

Re: Filling small low spot in shower
Thanks for the giving me the benefit of your experience. It is a relatively small area so I will go in and rough it up a bit and make sure its at least 3mm deep and then regrout.
