    Default shower cubicle recess

Hello everyone again. I need to rip out the shower cubicle in my house and start again and am just pondering the best way to cope with all the bottles and lotions and usual stuff that clutters the inside up. I have had wall mounted trays but hate the designs and they rust and eventually look crap, so I wondered whether it was an option to cut recesses in the walls and use the space created for the ' shelves '. I thought that these could be have a feature bottom rather like a sill, and the fair lady wife, but are there any inherent dangers to this other than the obvious ones of joint watertightness and pooling from laying back. Cheers in advance for your advice.

    David.

Get a natural stone tile and do a couple of triangles for corner shelves

Creating a niche into a wall is practical but make sure you use a tanking kit behind, plenty of tile adhesive, and grout well. (I am a bit of a fan of niches)

A slight fall forwards for the bottom tile to spill the water (but not so great the bottles drop off!!)

An alternative is to place your glass shelf higher and out of the direct water stream so that its less likely to rust. (and better quality steel)

Although I must admit I am with you that the shelves dont look very elegant. When I installed my own shelf I put it on the right hand side of the cubical so that it wasnt seen easily. Also its quite small. And it is very high up so only adults can reach both the shelf and the controls. Not ideal if its going to be a family shower.
