| Un level floors | | Hi guys, got a job today. Kitchen floor, using ceramic in brick bond. The floor now is made of very old, incredibly solid sandstone. The other thing is the floor slopes slightly at different points.
If any one can help with these queries it would be great.
1) how do a level the floor up? Do i just use SLC? What if i need to get it to about 2cm thick to even out the floor?
2) Do i need to treat the sandstone before I put SLC down? If that is indeed the best way to get the floor level?
3) If i use SLC do i need to prime it with APD before i put the rapid set on?
Can you use a thicker bed of SLC than 6 mm? IF so, how?
I know there is a lot there but any help would be appreciated.
MAny regards

| Re: Un level floors | | By layers - could i throw a couple of bags down, let it level, then leave it 24 hours and throw a couple more down to build up the lowest points? It is about 2.5 cm lower at its lowest point. | | |

| Re: Un level floors | | OK - i've decided to use SLC with grano in it to bulk it out so i can get the thickness up safely to what I need. Does anyone know what ratio I should mix the grano in at? I was thinking 1:1, but dont really have a scooby. Second, I will prime with APD initially, lay on SLC, then re-prime with APD. Can anyone reccomend a good reasonalby priced SLC? Its for a family member and they want to use B&Q's own SLC - but i have no experience with them. So, 2 questions are:
1) What ratio to mix the grano in to the SLC at
2) A good reasonably priced SLC?
Many thanks fellas

| Re: Un level floors | | Ive used the b&q slc on little jobs and its pretty good at levelling itself if you put in just over the amount of water the instructions say to but like dhc said, it can crack if you go too thick. Always better to spend proper money and do a proper job. That way youll never get any come back from it, especially as its family, The worst customers!!! | | |
