Default Trowel notch size & profile for wall tiles?

Can anyone tell me the correct size (notch size) and shape (square, half round etc) to use for putting wall tiles up. I will be using Mapei Keraquick mixed with water. The walls are plastered brick, paint sanded off and Mapei primer applied. Tiles are 25mm x 40mm x0.8.

    Cheers

If the walls were straight plum and level I would use min 8mm square notch, if the walls were out then increase the size of trowel to compensate for deviations.

    hope that helps.

We have a huge collection of trowels of every kind of shape-round, half round, square, V-notch, and so on...of all sizes. Depending on the substrate and the shape of the back of the tile and the size of the tile, different trowels will be appropriate to use.

Trowels are fairly inexpensive, so I think it is worthwhile to own a lot of different types so we have the right one to choose from when we need it.

Steverog, you say the tiles are 25x40 mm, thats 1 inch x 2 inch approx If that isn't a typo you need a mosaic trowel

    if they are 250 x 400mm then it would be a 8mm trowel(square notch) and probably the fuller coverage trowel,if it's 25 x 40mm then it's a 4mm mosaic trowel
