New Website/New Business
Hello peeps,
I am at present starting a new tiling business and have had a website running for the last two weeks. Although I have had a lot of hits and have had a few clicks ( am running it on google add words) , I have so far ,had no enquiries on work.
I would be grateful if some of you guys could take a look at this site and give me your opinions on anything that could be improved or removed , or any other additions. I am running other adverts but this is worrying me a little .

Re: New Website/New Business
Spelling is horrendous
First impressions count so correct the mistakes ASAP
People are now realizing that there are rogues out there,By having just a mobile number i personally would not call you if i needed a tiler.Address details and Land line number could help
Your Gallery section is also slow to load

Re: New Website/New Business
Need to do a check on your spelling and grammar matey, spotted at least a dozen errors without counting.
Personally I'd remove the picture of the van and put another pic of your work in its place.
Also no home phone number or home / business address - Would give you more credibility.
Have you got any other photos of your work that you can add into the gallery, it looks a bit sparse?
Actual site looks fine just think you need to concentrate on the details. Good luck with your business, hope it works out for you. Cheers Chris

Re: New Website/New Business
I always think that a van or any other vehicle parked partly on the footpath is a bad advert for anyone as it shows a certain 'lack of respect' for pedestrians, parents with buggies/prams and disabled persons making their way along the street. Park on the road or round the corner. A customer will have to answer the door if your van is in the way. Not good.

Re: New Website/New Business
Ive never had any work that i am aware of purley generated by my web site, and to be honest if it wasnt free i'd probably have got rid of it ages ago.

Re: New Website/New Business
good on you for throwing your all at you new venture mate. but as mentioned the site dose lack alot and also has some bits that you dont really need in there like the 'why a tiler' page.
I'm not keen on the pic which looks to me to be an underground station on the page header.
I've looked at loads of site's from members on here and some are smashing. The best of the bunch are the one's with extensive portfolios of work and I think this sum's up what tiling websites are good for, showing off what you have done.
dont be disheartened mate this time next year you site will look full and great I'm sure of it!

Re: New Website/New Business
Lose the music, I hate any site that embeds music, commercial or privare site, it will take an age to load on lower tier services, just my 2 cents, and agree with most of what has been said

Re: New Website/New Business
i personally think the site is quite good an informative. lose the music yes,,and sort spelling mistakes,,apart from that i found the pics load quick enough and i think the why a tiler section is a great way to get a tilers point across to customers about substrate preperation which i think we all agree customers dont realise sometimes.maybe also re shoot the van pic off the pavement but on the whole it looks fine to me. oops i forgot one thing i would remove is the fact youv been trained in a tiler school...absolutely no disrespect as i was trained at the same one
but i think customers would like to know or think you are a time served tradesman im not sure it will do you any favours highlighting you have done a course

the reason I was not to keen on the 'why a tiler' section was I found It informing the customer about things they may not need to know. I've found most customers pay you because they dont want to do (or know) it them self's. I just thought it was something that would better discussed while quoting.
But It really is just my opinion.
good on you kilty for the praise.

Re: New Website/New Business
I see you've worked on your site, Not bad Dan, just get you porfolio built up, as has been said, it is primarily for showing your work off after a potential customer has heard of you through other means, good luck with it!
