Yes, apparently it's a common one!

Had several calls 'thanking me for placing advertising in their charity magazine/trusted tradesmen list/ monthly newletter, the publication is now out can you please send us a £100 cheque as you promised' - I thought the first time I got this it was genuine and doubted myself for a moment but when I asked for a signature and proof they got shirty and hung up.

In the last month I've had all three of the 'emergency services' on the phone and another one from the 'combined services'. I have no doubt that there are genuine emergency services looking for sponsership but be careful, it's very convincing but someone is trying to make money out of it!

It's a very common scam, So far I've had them say they are from - Schools, Police, Fire Service, Hospitals and coast guards I'm still waiting from one claiming to been from the AA - they are the 5th emergancy service right?

Don't know about everybody else but I must get 4 or 5 calls a week from various advertising companies. If I advertised with 'em all I'd have so much work I could employ hundreds! (according to how successful they say they are!).

I asked one of the so called 'emergency service' magazines to send me a copy for me to peruse and guess what? it never arrived!

When I'm quiet I try to 'network' and get my face into my local tile shops. Let them know I'm still here.

Have also tried local paper with very little success. Word of mouth is the best advertising but it does and still taking time.

I get loads of cold calls. But then my main number is plastered all over the internet.

Its frustrating but I cant afford a secretary to screen my calls! (ahh shame eh?)

However if Jordan is missing Peter and would like to call me for some comfort then the number is below this message!
