I seem to be getting a lot of requests for brick work pattern using medium and large format tiles, not getting so much call for borders though not as much as I used to.
From a fitting point of view its half bond / brick pattern every time for me - Takes a bit more brain power to set out but hides a multitude of sins when tiles are slightly different sizes - usually cheap tiles from 'the sheds'!! Grout lines aren't such an issue.
From a personal point of view I think it depends on the tiles but think feature walls are really effective and have done several vertical 'borders' recently which I think look great - Only down side with these is if your trying to centre against a shower tray or basin etc as cuts might not be as good.

Done a lot of brick bond bathrooms and a lot of vertical feature panels behind sinks etc lately, stone too (versailles pattern). I think it is best turning up on a job not knowing what way the customer wants them done. keeps the mind active
from the little i've done so far walls and floors it has to be Diamonds for me. I think Diamond set creates the illusion of space and distance where as if its a small room straight set can close it in. although saying that I'd not like to have diamonds on walls and floors to much I think.
I Hated doing them but thought taco's look the dogs danglies

Has anybody tried an offset brick bond pattern at all? Just wondering about all the fidly little cuts it would involve.
I like the idea of diamond on the floor, but with straight set around the outside, with a border in between.
Has anybody used the chrome/ stainless steel border that places like Topps sell? Can it be used on a floor?
If you are looking for something really fancy, try this, of course, you must have a tiles for that:
But my personal choice are small strips. There is a lot of awfull work involved, but the resolt is nice:
and I really like victorian floors:

Holy smokes!, that travertine bathroom is some awesome work for sure. Brilliant detailing.

is that your work?
some excellent looking work there milanI've done some jobs where there's been a standard layout initially and then mosaics off set by about 30 degrees which I think looks really good, especially in trav or marble

some lovely tiles in the pictures travertine is my favourite look and to work with it sets any room off!

I think if you are using a nice tile or natural stone, don't over complicate with fancy pattern or borders, as the beauty is in the tile.

Done alot of vertical borders and columns latley, and alot of diamond floors. Got afew paths coming up now the wheathers picked up.
True, but after so many same bathrooms it just gets boring.
