    Default Differing Substrates

Hi. Got a large kitchen/conservatory floor to do. This is all part of an extension, builder has screeded floor in new build but left existing area ply boarded, question is, what is best to do where the two substrates meet? I will be laying porcelain, approx 7 different size tiles in a pattern! Don't think this leaves me with a straight edge that could have been laid along joint line. Is it a case of Ditra matting? Continue screed over ply at minimal thickness...or any other advice greatly received.

You will have to have a movement joint where the 2 substrates meet....this will mean a straight line break in the pattern.

Ditra will cope with any lateral stress between the 2 substrates but will not cope with any deflection stress....

    hope this helps..
