    Default trim usage

    hi,

Another question re tiling my bathroom

The basic plan is to tile half way up around the whole room and then up to the ceiling where the shower enclosure will be.

There will be a mosaic border tile finishing the top of the half way up field tiles. The border will continue into the shower area, but will have more field tiles above it to the ceiling.

The problem I am having is the transition to the full wall tile area from half tile, as this takes place on an outside corner. I'm not sure how to place the tile trim.

Ideally I don't want to have trim above the border on the half tile areas all they way round the bathroom. But I need a corner trim below the border on the outside edge, not sure what to do above the border when there is only tile on one face. Do I need an edge trim, or can I just paint the edge of the ceramic tile?

    See image:

Sorry for the long post. Any help and advise appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Alex

hi think i get it you only want to protect tiled corner vertical to top of mosaic border try square trim (CHROME) and use a corner square to finish top

Yeah, pretty much, would the trim also be used on the mosiac border section then, or could I butt these as they are Travertine.

Can you also get plastic or ceramic trim like this?

Also have issue that if the tiles above border are cut, rather than full, then I also need an edge trim above the border to protect the cut edge?

    thanks

    thanks.

for me, the less trim the better, but on cut edges, I assume you need an edge trim?

    Hi

If you cut the travertine with a grinder or wet saw, you put the cut edge to the adjacent tile and leave the factory edge exposed to sight.

You don't use trims on travertine if you can help it - it cheapens the tile
If your in control... Your not going fast enough

only the mosaic border is trav, the main tiles are ceramic. I could mitre or butt the mosaic tiles and just use the corner trim on the main tiles?

I also think now that the following would be easier as I wouldnt have to deal with the half height / full height transition on an outside corner.
